Musings about Somethings

Little Miss Philippines and Mr. Dream Boy soon-to-be contestants could add up other
choices and alternative in answering the ever famous line (enter Joey and Vic tandem) “Anong gusto mong maging paglaki mo.”

Instead of the overused responses such as a Doctor, a Nurse, an Engineer, a Lawyer… now they could proudly quip and confidently reply…

“Kapag malaki na po ako... ay.. gusto kong maging Manikurista!”

or even…

“Ako po, pag lumaki ako, gusto kong maging Hardinero!”

Whatever happens to our dearest ‘Inang Bayan’? Sigh.

Been trying to come up with something to write and tackle upon for this past few days. However, I wasn’t fortunate enough to have something and with only the blank paper and an unused pen to show for. All I had were myriads of ideas inside my cranium that doesn’t find itself into their fruition.

And yes, I still do my drafts in a piece of paper. Well, until such time that I have other means and alternative at hand.

Up until now, I still have those ideas waiting to be realized.

Still waiting for an update regarding our work and employment status. They say patience is a virtue, I say they can be found in hospitals. Har har har…

It’s very frustrating being at the mercy of someone else’s decision. And its even more disappointing not being appreciated for your presence and for a job well done. Well, I’ve heard it a thousand times, and indeed, life ain’t fair.

In a jeepney ride going to Quiapo, there’s an elderly woman and a young lady who are sharing the trip.

The youthful lass started picking her nose –unmindful of others.

Then the old lady inquired…

“Iha anong kinukuha mo?”

To which the lass, who is dressed up with all white uniform, immediately and confidently answered “Ah eh Nursing po!” matching with a beaming smile.

“Oh, ok… akala ko kulangot…” the elderly answered back.

Edwin Valero of Venezuela, boxing’s knockout artist, met his tragic demise few days ago. Inside the ring he amassed 27 victories, all within the distance –knockouts.

Last April 18, he stabbed his wife to death inside their hotel room and went to the reception to inform the attendant about the incident. He was arrested few hours later and was taken under custody.

Then, within less than 24 hours interval, on April 19, Edwin Valero, the promising boxer lined-up to do battle with Manny Pacquiao, hanged himself using his clothe inside his prison cell where he was detained.

It was later divulged that Valero has been battling alcohol and even drug addiction. Paranoia and hallucinations were common effects that were observed by those who are closed to him.

Dreadful ending to a promising pugilist. Indeed, his story, among many others before, proves that drugs and excessive vices won’t do anyone good.

May they rest in peace.
